IHCVision

An iconic historical, cultural, scientific natural history center of outstanding value to entire humanity. IHC’s mission is to chronicle the development of a political state, social stratification, urbanization and to collect, preserve, interpret, and display objects of artistic, cultural & scientific significance for the study and education of the public at large. IHC is primarily dedicated to the preservation & presentation of historical and cultural information about India & its indigenous people over the ages. IHC resources encompass both human and natural heritage, created by all key activities from the past that remain to inform present and future societies of that glorious & turbulent yet triumphant past. The rich heritage of India, one of the world's oldest civilizations, is an all-embracing confluence of religions, traditions and customs. The highlights of Indian heritage lay in the treasure of its art, architecture, classical dance, music, flora and fauna, and the innate humane philosophy. IHC broadens and embraces this diversity of values including symbolic, historic, artistic, aesthetic, ethnological or anthropological, scientific and social significance. A visit to the heritage sites is like a walk through history, changing lanes with every dynasty that ruled Indian soils. The finesse of Indian handiwork, the richness of silk and cotton textiles, the ethnicity of jewelry, everything has come down as a heritage from ancient times and is being kept alive generation after generation. Even food & cuisines in India is a legacy and part of Indian heritage, differing in look and unique in taste in every state of India.

IHC would purport to preserve & protect this very heritage as it adds character, luster and distinctiveness to our place, region & community that we take immense pride in calling it our very own and hence provides a sense of identity & belonging. Heritage, tangible as well as intangible, has a positive influence on myriad aspects of the way a community develops & even survives despite challenges. IHC is focused on exploring the full range of India's vast inherited traditions, monuments, objects, and culture heritage. It is indeed the exceptional range of contemporary activities, meanings, and behaviors that an entire civilization draws inspiration from.

IHC strives to protect both the tangible & intangible cultural heritage, It is necessary to raise awareness about cultural heritage in our community in order to identify different tools that can be developed for their preservation. In an era of globalization, cultural heritage helps us to remember our cultural diversity and develop mutual respect and renewed dialogue amongst different cultures. To this extent it even serves the cardinal purpose of sensitizing the mainstream community and perhaps safeguarding against potential racial discrimination or hate crimes.

IHC includes vital traditions & living expressions inherited from our ancestors and passed on to our descendants, such as oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals, festive events, knowledge and practices concerning nature, religious ceremonies, skills to produce traditional crafts, music, dance, literature, theatre, languages, and food. An intangible heritage is particularly difficult to protect as it is only experienced and cannot be kept in a sheltered place to be guarded. More than an individual or an organization, it requires efforts by an entire community to protect it. This is because an intangible heritage gives us a distinct sense of identity. With the help of our vibrant community & a very deep sense of responsibility, IHC Pledges to protect our intangible cultural heritage without exception.

Libraries and museums have a central role in preserving and promoting cultural heritage and the best way to preserve our cultural heritage is to share it with others. It is our responsibility to keep world history vis-à-vis Indian history intact for the coming generations so that they may have the same opportunities to learn about the past and their own roots as we have. The main foundation of every nation and every society is its culture. Culture is not something that we can create in a day, week or month. The development of culture in a society is a long process. Understanding our cultural heritage can give us a better sense of our personal identity and promote better cooperation in our community. It can play an essential role in our society by linking the past, the present and the future generation, a basis for building a strong nation and national identity. The preservation can be done by teaching our own children to practice the traditions and beliefs of our ancestors and telling them to continue to pass to future generations and teaching them to be proud of their roots especially if they know very little. The preservation of our cultural heritage is not merely a suggestion. It is every person’s responsibility. What contribution can we make toward the preservation and conservation of our cultural heritage? It is necessary to raise awareness about cultural heritage in our community in order to identify different tools that can be developed for their preservation. It is important to realize that what we see today as our cultural heritage is constructed in the sense that it is carefully selected by people living in the present nation state to create a common sense of identity; it is the stories we select from our past that say something about us as a people. Cultural heritage plays a very important role in our life. It is what keeps us attached to our religion, traditions, and beliefs. It is the duty of our society to preserve our cultural heritage.
